Elites Stage 1
Beginners, unable to swim 5 metres on their front and back confidently
Elites Stage 2
For swimmers able to swim both 5 metres on their front showing a confident and stress free doggie paddle action with their eyes in the water, able to lift their head to breathe and 5 metres comfortable kicking on their Back unaided with their with arms by their sides.
Elites Stage 3
Swimmers are to be able to swim 10 metres on their front with their arms out of the water breathing every two strokes to the side, 10 metres on their back working on arm over recovery, introduced to breastroke leg action
Elites Stage 4
Swimmers need to be able to swim 15 metres Front crawl confidently breathing to both side, 15 metres Backstroke with arm over recovery, 10 metres Breaststroke with both feet turned out with rhythmical breathing
Elites Stage 5
Swimmers are to be able to swim 20 metres Front crawl with bilateral breathing, 20 metres Backstroke, 15 metres Breaststroke while gliding for 2 seconds, Been introduced to performing a forwards somersault, been introduces to dolphin leg action
Elites Stage 6
Swimmers are to be able to swim 50 metres Front crawl with Bilateral breathing, 25 metres Breaststroke with correct breathing and timing, 10 metres Butterfly with arms fully out of the water, able to perform a Front crawl and Backstroke tumble turn with correct stroke counting on Backstroke. Be confident at performing a racing dive, entering the water in a streamline position.
Elites Stage 6 & 7
Swimmers are to be able to swim 50metres Front crawl with Bilateral breathing, 25 metres Breaststroke with correct breathing and timing, 10 metres Butterfly with arms fully out of the water, able to perform a Front crawl and Backstroke tumble turn with correct stroke counting on Backstroke. Be confident at performing a racing dive, entering the water in a streamline position.
Elites Stage 7
Swimmers are to be able to swim 50 metres Front crawl with Bilateral breathing, 25 metres Breaststroke with correct breathing and timing, 10 metres Butterfly with arms fully out of the water, able to perform a Front crawl and Backstroke tumble turn with correct stroke counting on Backstroke. Be confident at performing a racing dive, entering the water in a streamline position.
Elites Pre-club Bronze
Swimmers are able to complete 200 metres Frontcrawl consistently with tumble turns. Have good knowledge of backstroke tumble turns knowing their stroke counts from the flags to the wall. Be able to swim 50 metres Backstroke and breaststroke to a high standard. Swim 25 metres Butterfly with rhythmical breathing and arms fully out of the water.
Be competent at performing an individual medley stress free
Good knowledge of performing racing starts on all four strokes
Elites Pre-club Silver
Swimmers are able to perform the correct sequence for preparation for exercise without instruction.
Swimmers are to be able to swim 200metres Frontcrawl consistently and stress free with the correct tumble turn and have good knowledge of the underwater sequence out of each turn.
Swimmers are to be able to swim 100 metres backstroke and Breastroke with the correct turns and underwater sequences.
Swim 50 metres butterfly with rhymical breathing and the correct turn to a high standard with the correct underwater sequence
Be fully efficient at performing a backstroke-Breaststroke 'Flip turn' when performing an individual Medley.
Able to perform racing starts on all four strokes with the correct underwater sequences before commencing strokes.
Elites Pre-club Gold
Swimmers are able to demonstrate full preparation for exercise without instruction
Swimmers are able to swim 400 metres+ Frontcrawl at ease with the correct tumble turn and underwater sequence out of each turn.
Swimmers are able to perform 200 metres Backstroke and Breaststroke to a very high standard with excellent knowledge of stroke efficiency and speed while performing the correct turn and underwater sequence to a very high standard.
To be able to swim 100 metres Butterfly stress free with rhymical breathing and the correct turn and underwater sequences.
Be fully efficient at performing a backstroke-Breaststroke 'Crossover turn' when performing an individual Medley
To be be fully competent at performing Racing starts, turns and finishes on all four strokes to a competition standard.
Rookie Lifesaving
Swimmers need to have achieved stage 7 and be able to swim 200metres Frontcrawl stress free. Swimmers are to be confident swimming in clothes and had previous experience with treading water and basic personal survival exercises
Water Polo
Swimmers are to have achieved stage 6 and be confident swimming 100 metres Frontcrawl stress free.
Swimmers are able to tread water for 2 minutes without touching the floor
